Congratulations Mark Stiles - 2010 Micro 4WD Champion - winning on Gecko low profile tyres

Congratulations to Mark Stiles for becoming the first ever multiple BRCA Micro National Series Champion by retaining his title from the 2009 season - more information below.

The new Gecko F1 tyres help Radio Race Car's Dez Chand win the F1 winter series (15th March 2010).

Running Gecko Foams on his F109 from 3 Racing, Dez Chand, Editor of Race Car Magazine, and RC F1 fan, has been competing at tracks around the country to evaluate their performance. Using clubs running regular F1 meetings including Ardent Raceway, Stafford, Don Valley, Tamworth and Bedworth to set up and evaluate the new Gecko F1 tyres, Dez has gone on to clinch the winter series title at Tamworth, a 7 round indoors series on carpet, which has seen 4 different winners in this close competition running Mardave G2 motors as a sensible indoor formula. The Gecko tyres proved consistent and reliable, requiring minimal additive to perform, usually just a wipe on and wipe off to clean the tyre of all the pick up from the previous race.

But do these tyres work outdoors? Well there's only one way to find out!
Using a new set of Gecko tyres to win the last round of the Tamworth Winter series on Saturday night (13th March), next day Dez then joined in the last round of the equally popular Bedworth Winter Championships where they have an open motor rule, so anything goes. The same set of Gecko tyres were used with on the same chassis geometry, powered by the Mardave G2 Brushless system from Mtroniks, to set Pole position, win both legs of the A finals and set new race and lap records for F1 at Bedworth.

And the tyre wear after two full meetings, indoors and out?
Just 1mm off the rear, 0.5mm off the fronts.
How's that for performance and value?

Dez's Gecko Compounds were 35 shore front & 27 shore Rear. Size 52mm dia front & 54mm dia rear.

F1 donuts are now available with Rears in 27, 30, 32, 35 & 37 shore and Fronts in 32, 35, 37, 40 & 42 shore.

Rear donuts are 35mm ID x 57mm OD x 45mm wide
Front donuts are 35mm ID x 55mm OD x 30mm wide

NEW 1/10th NITRO GECKO® TYRES MAKE A GREAT START IN PORTUGAL (19th December 2009)

Ricardo Furtado has been testing the latest 1/10th Nitro Gecko tyres in Portugal in the last month with outstanding results and so he raced them for the first time at a high profile cup event (The taça cidade de torres novas) last week end (12th & 13th December). This event was used to inaugurate the great new track that will be used for the first Portugese National in 2010. The Nitro Gecko tyres were faster (and wear rates better) in qualifying compared to a major European brand he used. Ricardo went onto to finish third behind the ex Portugese National champion (joão nascimento) who was first and  bruno coelho who was second (the current Portugese National champion).

Ricardo is looking forward to using the new 1/10th Nitro Gecko tyres for the Portugese National series that starts in January.

These new Nitro Gecko tyres use new compounds on both the front and the rear as well as a new stiffer rear wheel which have all helped to push the performance to a new level.

These new tyres will be available from January 2010. For more information please contact us enquiries@adamsracing.co.uk

Ivan Bugane of Bolonga (Italy) TQ'd and won the 3rd round of the AMSCI Italian Championship last month at the Fontanellatos asphalt Track and now leads the championship final standings in this 1/10th Electric (Lipo 2s or 6 cells - 10.5T motor - free 26mm foam tyres) class. This was Ivan's 3rd TQ in 3 rounds but his first well deserved win where he has been delighted with the Electric Gecko tyre performance using the 40 Shore (front and rear) standard product to leave the rest of the field trailing behind. Ivan was using product code AR10FE040 front and rear.

Electric Gecko tyres (low profile) were again the dominant choice at the Hereford Micro Open on 16th August, Please see the following summary of events from BRCA Micro RC class Chairman, Cris Oxley

"Gecko secured all 3 places on the 4WD rostrum at the Hereford Micro Open on August 16th with Microtech Racing's Keith Robertson taking the top spot from Gecko team driver Steve Davis in 2nd place with Chris Bottle close behind in 3rd.

After 4 rounds of qualifying it was clear that foam tyres were to way to go on a track that offered nearly a lap more for those who chose foam over rubber.

With half of the 4WD A-final using Gecko foams, and all three rostrum positions taken by Gecko its clear that, with the upcoming BRCA Micro National Series starting on October 4th, Gecko is going to be a force to be reckoned with over the Winter."

Words - Cris Oxley

'Competition 53' Electric Gecko tyres are now available for purchase from Microtech Racing (UK). They now join A Mains Hobbies (California) who have been holding stock now since March this year.

Electric Gecko tyres proved their ultimate grip again recently when used as an option to improve the performance of the Tamiya TT-01 E Type Electric Touring car in Track Tests carried out for RRCI. According to the Radio Race Car International magazine (May edition) article when these tyres (37 shore front and 35 shore rear Gecko Electric Foam standard profile tyres) replaced the fastest option from a top rubber tyre brand they 'cropped a further 2 seconds off of the lap time and brought a new level of confidence and accuracy to the racing line and despite a full 20 minute run ....there was no perceivable wear...the Gecko foam rubber compound is simply amazing, offering grip whilst minimising wear...'

The actual product codes of those tyres used are AR10FE035 and AR10FE037 with more details on the 'tyres' page of this web site.

Please download the 'Tamiya TT01...' PDF of the article at the bottom of this page (courtesy of Radio Race Car International magazine) and read how you can get the 'Gecko Foam confidence' on page 5 and 6 ('Track Tests')

Ivan Bugane of Bologna (Italy) top qualified in the 1/10th Electric Sports class (10.5 T, Lipo adn) of the AMSCI Italian Championship on Gecko tyres held in Catania, Sicily last month. Ivan also led the 'A' final to the last lap where a small mistake meant finishing in second place on the podium. Ivan was using Electric Gecko tyres 37 hardness all round (Product code: AR10FE037) which gave superb results throughout the day.

Ivan also Top qualified in round 2 of the AMSCI championship held in Bologna on 31st May and was going well until a rain downpour meant he dropped to fifth - Ivan did not have any rain tyres with him!. Ivan will now have the new 1/10th Gecko Aqua foam rubber tyres ready for the next round at the Fontanellato's track (Parma) on 3rd/4th July just in case.

Dale Hulbert wins the speed run at Calshot Velodrome with his 1/10th Electric 'Modified' sedan doing 60 mph on Gecko foam 'ultimate grip' tyres!

Dale Hulbert won the speed run at the annual Calshot Velodrome event held Sunday 26th April held by South Hants Model Car Club. He achieved one lap in 5.363 seconds which equates to an average speed of 59.61 mph. He did this using a 'modified' 1/10th Electric Sedan with 42 hardness Electric Gecko foam rubber tyres giving amazing grip via the 100% contact patch. The Velodrome oval racing surface is a wood track coated with a 'grit' encassed in a hard resin which can be highly abrasive if you allow your tyres to slide, however, the unbelieveable grip that the Gecko tyres offers you ensures minimal slide and so minimal wear to go with the excellent grip.

Dale also found the time to finish 3rd in the Stock (13.5/27 Turn) A final (also on Gecko tyres) in this excellent annual Oval racing event. (Photo courtesy of South Hants Model Car Club).

You now can have the 'more fun' that foam offers and make it last.

Tony Bishop TQ's & wins A final on Gecko tyres at Macclefield Micro National (Round 4 of the BRCA series)

Tony Bishop used Electric Gecko foam tyres (35 hardness all round) to help him gain TQ and win the A final of last week end's Macclesfield Micro National (Round 4 of the BRCA series run on 7th December). Tony was also joined by Danny Conway (2nd) and Alec Springer (3rd) on the podium who were also using Electric Gecko foam tyres. They should also be a rewarding choice for any driver entering the upcoming Round 4 BRCA Micro National at Macclesfield later this month.
