James Burling wins 1/12th Southern Area Oval championship series on Gecko Tyres (21st February 2012)
James Burling won the final round of the Southern Oval championship at Southampton yesterday, with a three-lap lead in the final using Gecko 27 shore 1/12th donuts.
James has now won the championship using a range of Gecko donuts. At the end of January, James won the 3rd round of the Southern Oval Series (a 5-round oval winter series hosted at clubs around the South Coast of the country) at Bognor Regis, with a 6 lap lead using Gecko 30s on the rear. The track was very warm at the start of the day so he ran a pair of 42s on the rear to start with (now his tyre of choice when there’s a lot of grip on the track) and these worked well. Then as the track cooled down through the day and the grip levels dropped right down, James switched to the Gecko 30s which 'performed brilliantly' to help ensure the win.
