Most of you racing your RC cars will know the importance of tyre choice to optimise your performance around the track. Correct tyre choice has proven to be critical whatever form of racing you are involved with, in particular it seems, it can be seen with Formula 1 and Moto GP. There was a recent study on what development area improved the lap times the most in Formula 1 car R&D over a ten year period and around 60% of the improvement was attributed to tyre development, the rest to engine and chassis design. Top Moto GP drivers often have a specific tyre designed for their own driving style for a specific track they are racing on and for the specific racing conditions they are expected to encounter. All this from this strange black material that links you to the track. Therefore it could be concluded that the impact of tyre choice should probably be the most significant concern for the RC racer.
